Adopt Me!

Let’s get this out of the way first: Adopt Me! is technically not its own game. It lives inside Roblox, which is kind of like a giant theme park of user-made worlds. But saying Adopt Me! is “just another Roblox game” is like saying Minecraft is “just a bunch of blocks.” This thing is huge. And it’s been dominating Roblox’s front page for over seven years. That’s practically a decade in internet time.

So what do you do in Adopt Me!? Mostly? You raise pets. You feed them, bathe them, take them to school (yes, really), and complete tiny tasks to help them grow up. Do it long enough, and you can turn four of the same pet into a shiny Neon version. Do that again, four Neons, and you’ll get a Mega Neon. The grind is real, but the reward glows (literally).

There’s more here too: You can be a baby or a parent, decorate your home with an absurd amount of furniture and wallpaper, or cruise around in one of the many ridiculous vehicles. Every activity, whether it’s going camping or getting a pizza, earns you Bucks, which you’ll need to unlock new pets and items.

And then there’s trading. Oh, the trading. It’s a full-blown economy in here, with rare pets fetching serious value. Want a Diamond Unicorn? Better clear your schedule. It takes hundreds of hours (or some clever bartering) to get one. The game even includes a Trade License system to protect players from scams, though, let’s be honest, shady deals still happen.

Monetization-wise, it’s mostly fair. You can play without spending a dime, but the temptation to buy Bucks or rare items is always lurking. Still, it never feels like you have to spend, which is rare for a free game this big.

Is Adopt Me! for everyone? Nope. But if you like collecting things, love a good grind, or just want to roleplay in a pastel-colored dream world, it’s easy to see why millions of players keep logging in. Even if you’re just here for the pets.
