Kart racing’s weird little underdog has quietly returned, and you know what? It rips. Beach Buggy Racing 2 is back on the track, and while it may not have Mario’s mustache or Crash’s budget, it might just be the most entertaining mobile racer you’re sleeping on, especially with the Hot Wheels™ special event crashing into town until August 10.

BBR2 is what happens when a physics sandbox, a theme park, and a monster truck rally all merge at 100mph. One minute you’re dodging mummies in an Egyptian tomb, the next you’re power-sliding through a neon biodome or careening off a pirate ship’s deck while unleashing bees. Yes, actual bees.

There’s real meat under the madness, too. With over 45 customizable powerups and a deck-building system, your loadout becomes as strategic as it is chaotic. Want to glue someone to the ground with Donut Tires and then zap their dreams with Chain Lightning? Go for it. It’s basically Mario Kart meets Mad Max meets a toy commercial from 1998.

And it’s not just the items that bring the heat, each of the 14+ drivers has their own special move, like Rez’s flaming tire trail or Disco Jimmy’s “Dance Fever,” which literally forces enemies to boogie while he blazes past. Combine that with 55+ cars, from hot rods to hovercrafts, and you’ve got a garage that could make even Wario blush.

What really makes it all sing, though, is the surprisingly deep Adventure Mode, packed with nearly 150 events that slowly unlock the madness one powerup and shortcut at a time. It’s the perfect way to learn, grind, and get totally hooked, all while chasing 447 elusive stars that taunt you like a drifting ghost racer.

Beach Buggy Racing 2 isn’t trying to outshine the giants, it’s just out here having a blast, firing rockets out of a dune buggy and asking if you want to try the next level. And honestly? You probably should.
