BitLife – Life Simulator

If you’ve ever wanted to become a Nobel Prize-winning doctor, a shady underground kingpin, or just a slightly weird millionaire who collects ferrets, BitLife has you covered.

This is a text-based life simulator, and while that might not sound like a thrill ride, BitLife proves otherwise. It starts simple: you’re born, you tap “Age” to get older, and from there, you steer your character through childhood, school, careers, relationships, and whatever chaos you feel like adding. Want to be a loyal spouse with three kids and a law degree? Go for it. Want to cheat on your husband, join the mob, smuggle drugs, and bribe the police? Also an option.

And that’s the fun of it. BitLife isn’t about flashy graphics or high frame rates, it’s about decisions. Every action pushes your story forward. Maybe you’ll adopt ten cats, or maybe you’ll get arrested for launching a prison riot. Maybe both.

Gameplay is almost entirely through menus and little text blurbs, but somehow, it’s weirdly addictive. You’ll obsess over your stats (happiness, health, smarts, looks), mourn virtual pets, and possibly feel genuine guilt after ghosting a loving partner to go “find yourself” in Argentina.

BitLife also tracks legacies. You can continue playing as your kids after you die, build multi-generational wealth, pass down heirlooms, or just leave your estate to the family schnauzer out of spite.

Unfortunately, monetization is where things get messy. The game started with a one-time purchase to unlock premium features like time travel and “God Mode,” but now there’s an ever-growing list of overpriced expansion packs. Want to roleplay as a famous athlete or a politician? That’ll cost extra. It’s not unplayable without these, but it does feel a bit like death-by-DLC.

Still, even with the bloat, BitLife delivers a unique blend of humor, drama, and total unpredictability. One moment you’re winning the lottery, the next you’re in jail for shoplifting.

It’s not for kids, and it’s not always kind. But if you’re into The Sims meets choose-your-own-adventure, BitLife is one of the best ways to live, die, and laugh, bit by bit.
