Description

Bullet Echo is one of those games that tricks you into thinking it’s smarter than it is, at least at first. In your first few matches, flashlight beams slash through darkness like spotlights on a stage, footsteps echo ominously through unseen corridors, and your thumb-guided hero auto-fires the moment an enemy dares cross your red cone of doom. It’s sleek. It’s stylish. It’s got that “What if Metal Gear and PUBG had a baby and raised it in a haunted basement?” vibe. For a minute, I thought I found my new mobile obsession.

Developed by ZeptoLab (yes, the Cut the Rope folks), Bullet Echo is a top-down, team-based PvP shooter where visibility is so limited, you’re basically fighting inside a power outage. Light is vision. Sound is your sixth sense. And paranoia? That’s just part of the fun. Each of the unlockable heroes, ranging from tanky juggernauts to squishy, long-range glass cannons, brings their own flavor of stealthy chaos to the fight.

You vote where to drop on the map, avoid the ever-shrinking circle of doom, scoop up ammo and shields like Halloween candy, and work your way toward being the last squad standing. It’s short-form, tactical combat with a spooky twist, and the sound design alone does a lot of heavy lifting. A distant reload click has the power to stop your heart. A teammate’s flashlight beam becomes your temporary lifeline. It’s cool stuff.

But that glow dims quickly.

The problem? Power isn’t earned, it’s bought. Bullet Echo is crammed with enough currencies to stock a crypto farm: Coins, Trophies, Bucks, Batteries, Player Cards, you name it. Want to level up that sniper who keeps one-shotting you from another zip code? Better have 35 duplicate cards or drop $10 on a “discounted” bundle that’s been on sale since the invention of dirt. And good luck winning without upgrades, high-tier players basically turn public lobbies into digital firing squads.

There’s a great game somewhere inside Bullet Echo’s slick visuals and clever mechanics. But until ZeptoLab dials back the monetization hunger games, it feels less like a tactical shooter and more like a dark room where the guy with the biggest wallet always sees you first.
