Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

If Deep Rock Galactic is a rowdy night at the space pub with friends, Survivor is waking up hungover, alone, and surrounded by aliens, armed only with a minigun and company-mandated optimism. This top-down, auto-shooting roguelite trades squad banter for solo survival, but somehow keeps all the swagger.

At first glance, it’s Vampire Survivors with mining goggles, but dig deeper (literally), and you’ll find clever new layers beneath the swarm-slaying chaos. You still kill bugs by the thousands, but now you’re also tunneling through destructible terrain, scooping up shiny loot and rare minerals like a caffeinated mole in overdrive. Add randomized objectives, procedural maps, and a satisfying loop of upgrades, and Survivor sinks its pickaxe in fast.

Each class is a power fantasy in waiting. The Gunner is a walking turret. The Driller digs death tunnels. The Engineer turns chokepoints into warzones with temporary turrets. Even the Scout, sorry, fine Scout, has his uses. Builds get especially spicy once reload timers and synergies come into play. Running four guns with staggered ammo? You’re a rotating death blender. Mistime your reloads? You’re dwarf pâté.

Missions are short and snackable, sometimes too much so. Just as you’re grooving, it’s extraction time. And while only three biomes exist so far, each swarms with enough bug meat and molten chaos to keep things interesting, for now.

It’s early access, sure. But Survivor already feels rock-solid. It’s a solo spin-off that retains the heart, grit, and gallows humor of the original while carving out its own cavern of crunchy, chaotic charm.
