Description

Exit the Gungeon is like being shot out of a cannon and trying to juggle flaming chainsaws on the way down, except the cannon’s made of bubblegum, the chainsaws are frogs, and you’re also in an elevator.

Where Enter the Gungeon was a sprawling, exploratory roguelike with corridors of mystery, Exit flips the formula into a vertical gauntlet. Instead of navigating rooms, you’re mostly locked in an elevator that won’t stop moving and throws more bullets at you than a fireworks factory raid. It’s cramped, unpredictable, and kind of brilliant.

The big gimmick? Your gun constantly transforms mid-fight. One second you’re blasting with a bee launcher, the next you’re saddled with a garbage-tier charged pistol that couldn’t hit water if you fell out of a boat. That randomness can be soul-crushing in a boss fight, but it’s also the point. If you can’t survive with a nail gun, should you really be escaping the Gungeon?

Movement is everything. Dodge rolls now double as launchable jumps, giving you full-screen invulnerability, assuming you don’t land on a bullet. Get the rhythm right, and you’ll feel untouchable. Get it wrong, and you’ll be soup before your gun turns into a super soaker.

There’s a combo meter that allegedly improves your weapon roll, but it often feels like a placebo. Still, landing hits without taking damage feels good, and that’s enough motivation to keep chasing perfect runs.

Exit the Gungeon isn’t as deep or refined as its predecessor, but what it lacks in polish, it makes up for in spectacle. It’s messy. It’s unfair. It’s stupid fun. And yes, you can wear hats.
