This stripped-down, skill-forward basketball game from Starch Digital turns the classic jump shot into an arcade-style obsession, complete with FPS-style controls and enough style bonuses to make a score-chasing addict out of anyone with thumbs.

At first glance, it’s minimal: a sunny court, a ball, and three simple modes, Arcade (score as much as you can), Spot Up (speedrun shooting spots), and Zen (vibe out and shoot). But the moment you lock on, time a perfect release, and watch your shot swish through the net with a satisfying whoosh, First Person Hooper sinks its hooks in. Then it hands you a glowing power-up ball and says, “do it again.”

The lock-on mechanic is snappy, the physics are just arcade enough to feel forgiving, and chaining bank shots into swishes with 4x multipliers is dangerously addictive. It’s less about breaking ankles and more about breaking personal bests, a speedrunner’s basketball sim, wrapped in lo-fi hip-hop and good vibes.

Customization options (lefty mode, stat tracking, court reskins) and the surprisingly deep scoring system turn what initially feels like a novelty into something you’ll return to during lunch breaks and late-night cooldowns. Sure, it’s not packed with content, but that’s the point, First Person Hooper is pure, distilled hooping.

Whether you’re grinding leaderboards or zoning out in Zen Mode, this is a shooter in every sense of the word, and hitting nothing but net has never felt this good.
