The core of FR Legends is its battle system, where you lead or chase AI drivers across real-world-inspired circuits. Scoring is based on real competition rules, so it’s not just about holding angle; you’ve got to hit clipping points, hug the walls, and keep your line tight. Chasing gets especially intense. You’ll need to shadow your opponent’s every move without bumping them. And yeah, one misstep and the whole run’s blown.

Handling-wise, it’s not a sim. But it’s not a joke either. It sits comfortably in the “accessible but skillful” zone. Drifting is initiated by flicks, taps, or e-brakes depending on your control setup. There’s no real counter-steering, which feels odd at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be throwing 360s and reverse entries for style points.

Customization is where the game absolutely shines. You can modify nearly everything: body kits, turbos, liveries, engine swaps, suspension tuning, and even the interior view. Some of it’s locked behind premium currency, which stings a little, especially when rims cost more than a turbo kit, but if you’re patient or willing to grind, there’s a lot to unlock.

There’s a decent spread of game modes too, solo runs, practice, time attacks, gymkhana, multiplayer lobbies, and they all encourage you to master your car rather than simply upgrade past the AI. Tracks range from fantasy circuits to shoutouts to places like Ebisu, though visual repetition and locked content are minor pain points.

Monetization? Mostly cosmetics and quality-of-life perks. No real pay-to-win. But gold currency is slow to earn without ads or microtransactions, which can frustrate dedicated players trying to build out their dream garage.

Still, if you’re into drifting and love customizing cars, FR Legends hits that sweet spot. Just be ready for a few quirks, a learning curve, and the occasional wall slap.
