Gunfire Reborn

Gunfire Reborn is what happens when Borderlands raids a zoo and builds a roguelite out of the wreckage. It’s a looping, looting, furry FPS fever dream that hits like a dopamine shotgun blast and barely lets up between its lurching Chinese-to-English translations and weaponized cuteness. It shouldn’t work, but it does, and once you’re locked in, it’s hard to stop running it back for just one more buffed-out blast through tombs and deserts.

You start as a wide-eyed cat with an orb attack and unlock more characters over time, like a dual-wielding corgi or a sword-summoning bunny, all stylized in that chunky, Xbox 360-era low-poly aesthetic. There’s no plot worth parsing (trust me, I tried), just the eternal loop: spawn in, pick up weird guns, shoot down cartoon demons, die, and come back stronger.

Every run is a tightrope walk of mayhem and build crafting. Ascensions and Occult Scrolls feed your power curve with synergistic insanity, maybe you’re stacking elemental damage to melt mobs with corrosive Miasma, or rolling a scroll combo that trades your armor for life regen and a damage bonus. Add dozens of weapons (from SMGs to lizard-launchers) with randomized perks, and every loadout becomes a build-a-bullet buffet.

The mobile version smooths out controls surprisingly well, optimizing aim and movement to feel snappy even with thumbs in charge. That said, Gunfire screams for co-op. Up to four players can sync up their builds, one setting foes on fire, another freezing them in place, and a third dual-wielding grenade launchers in pure joyful anarchy.

It’s not flawless: early levels repeat, the translation sometimes dissolves mid-sentence, and the UI might flicker into Mandarin when it’s feeling spicy. But the core gameplay is so compulsively good you’ll barely notice. Whether you’re solo grinding or setting up elemental wombo combos with friends, Gunfire Reborn makes dying part of the fun.

Gunfire Reborn doesn’t reinvent the roguelite wheel, but it straps it to a rocket launcher and sends it sailing through a haze of particle effects, elemental procs, and tiny animal war crimes. Reborn, repeat, rejoice.
