Hill Climb Racing 2 might look like another cartoony side-scrolling racer, but don’t let the cute visuals fool you, this game is chaos on wheels. Whether you’re flipping over boulders or barreling through airborne shortcuts, every race is one wild physics-driven ride.

You start in the now-iconic red jeep with just two buttons: gas and brake. That’s it. But somehow, controlling this bouncy little beast across uneven terrain is surprisingly strategic. You’re not just holding the pedal and hoping for the best, you’re feathering controls mid-air to avoid a neck-breaking crash. Spoiler: you’ll crash. A lot.

Unlike the original, Hill Climb Racing 2 introduces real competition. In “Cups,” you race against ghost replays of other players. No waiting in lobbies, just quickfire races that feel equal parts platformer and demolition derby. These sprints are short, but the risk-reward loop is addictive, do you go for that fuel can, or launch yourself off a ramp and pray for a miracle landing?

There’s also an “Adventure” mode, which is more like an endless test of patience and suspension tuning. And if you want to go full gearhead, the game lets you upgrade each vehicle across multiple categories, engine, grip, suspension, and 4WD. Every car drives differently. The scooter is floaty and twitchy, while the super jeep is a rocket with a death wish.

Customization is everywhere. Want to race with a Viking helmet and rainbow wheels? Go for it. There’s even a track editor if you want to build your own playground of pain. Fingersoft really leaned into community features here, and it shows.

The monetization? Fair-ish. There’s a dual currency system, VIP perks, and chests full of parts locked behind ads or microtransactions. But it’s playable without spending, just expect some grind and the occasional ad ambush.

Still, Hill Climb Racing 2 nails what it sets out to do. It’s silly, technical, and surprisingly deep once you dig into the progression. It may not rewrite the genre, but it perfects its own brand of chaos. Just don’t get too attached to your neck. You won’t be using it much.
