The Walking Zombie 2

If Borderlands and Minecraft had a baby in a post-apocalyptic bunker, it’d probably look a lot like The Walking Zombie 2. A single-player FPS with RPG progression, karma choices, and more zombies than sense, this scrappy shooter puts you in the shoes of the one immune person in a world full of rot, ruin, and ridiculous fetch quests.

It opens on a high note: you’re born during a zombie attack. Zero time for childhood trauma, just here’s a pistol and a town full of people who need you to shoot stuff for them. Missions are doled out in classic rinse-repeat rhythm: travel to a dusty map, shoot zombies, maybe pick up a canned ham or lost dog tag, fast-travel home, upgrade, repeat. It’s less about reinvention and more about satisfying that primal need to ping polygonal heads with slightly better guns each hour.

Between firefights, you’ll manage skills, perks, gear, and morality. Yes, there’s a karma system, be nice and you might get discounts; be a jerk and, well, nothing too different happens, but at least you’ll feel something. The art style is budget cel-shaded charm, like Borderlands at low-res. It works, especially when you’re being mauled by boss mutants with names like “Fat Zombie.”

There’s a weird charm in how Walking Zombie 2 knows it’s the underdog. The microtransaction menu screams at you like a desperate street vendor, but if you can tune it out, there’s a solid loop here. The gunplay is satisfying, the RPG systems are serviceable, and the vibe? Somewhere between grim and goofy. It won’t change your life, but it’ll definitely waste a few afternoons, and sometimes, that’s all you need.
