Every time I thought I outsmarted Tricky Castle, it giggled and kicked me into a pit of spikes.

Across 120 surprisingly devious levels, Tricky Castle dares you to escape again and again, each time raising the stakes and lowering your trust in absolutely everything.

And that’s the magic: this isn’t just a puzzle platformer, it’s an elaborate con. Doors you think will open… don’t. Buttons you shouldn’t press? Essential. Tricky Castle constantly rewrites the rules, then pokes you in the ribs for not keeping up. But when you do outsmart it, the payoff is delicious.

Each room is a new riddle in disguise: Do you jump over the spikes, or walk through them? Is that a hint on the wall, or a lie? From “figure out this logic puzzle” to “don’t believe your eyes,” it tosses every kind of brain-teasing obstacle into your knight’s goofy little path.

It helps that it’s all wrapped in bright 2D art and just enough tongue-in-cheek humor to keep things light. Tricky Castle wants you to fail creatively, and you will, but it also makes each failure feel like part of the joke.

And somehow, the joke never gets old.
