SILT

There’s something about monochrome games that makes you feel like your soul is slowly evaporating, and SILT leans hard into that. Equal parts eerie exploration and possession-based puzzle-solving, it’s a “Limbolike” that trades dry land for the ocean floor and throws in a little biomechanical nightmare fuel just for good measure.

You’re a lone diver, or maybe just the haunted memory of one, drifting through a deep-sea dreamscape stitched together from teeth, machinery, and ancient fish gods. You don’t jump, you float. You don’t fight, you inhabit. With a ghostly tendril of light, you fling your consciousness into unsuspecting sea life: piranhas for cutting, crabs for smashing, teleporting rays for warping through eel-laced gauntlets. It’s less combat and more choreography, solving puzzles by leapfrogging from one creature’s instincts to the next.

And it’s gorgeous in that “this-is-definitely-a-bad-place” sort of way. SILT’s black-and-white sketchbook world drips with unsettling style, like if Tim Burton and H.R. Giger collaborated on an aquarium. The bosses? Part machine, part god, part “what happens if you stare into the Mariana Trench too long.”

But while the vibes are impeccable, the checkpoints… are not. Misstep on the final phase of a four-step puzzle? Back to square one, diver. Drown again. Repossession required. It doesn’t ruin the experience, but it drags the momentum down where it should drift eerily forward.

Still, SILT is a brief, strange dive into something deeply alien and darkly beautiful. If you’ve ever wanted to possess a fish, solve riddles, and steal power from the eyes of abyssal titans, this is your moment. Just don’t expect the sea to forgive your mistakes.
